Italy Innovations introduces Hide to the U.S. market: an opportunity for technology enthusiasts and investors to connect with smart home applications.
Hide, the world’s first recessed AC electrical outlet, will see its overseas unveiling at CES 2019 in Las Vegas, NV, on January 8, 2019.
Hide represents the first attempt in history to transform the AC electrical outlet into something elegant and safe.
Over the past 200 years, AC outlets have been pretty much the same: with the exception of certain varieties of materials and finishes, they have always been three holes in the wall into which to attach a plug.
With Hide, the socket disappears behind a sliding cover that allows the wall to remain neat, clean and safe. Hide allows you to use the space of the entire wall for furniture and decor, without having the cumbersome protrusion of the plug, characteristic of standard outlets. The little ones also are thus safe from the socket and electrical contacts hidden by the cover.
Most interesting, however, is the AI & Home Automation project. Thanks to a system that brings low-voltage electricity directly to Hide’s cover, the cover itself can become a smart control device for its surroundings: a thermostat, CCTV camera, fragrance diffuser, or even a speaker from which people can listen to music from their smartphones.
Italy Innovations will present a world premiere of the first working prototypes on its cover, of Amazon Alexa and Google Home at CES 2019.
